What Bolt is
Bolt invites you to create apps and websites by chatting with AI. It has a free plan, includes built-in hosting, connects to GitHub and Supabase, and works with Expo to build iOS and Android apps. Visit Bolt.
A built-in AI agent, or your own plan.
The 3Edit Agent works straight away and uses your plan’s AI credits. 3Edit has its own built-in AI agent, and using your own Claude Code or Codex is an optional extra: 3Edit runs the official Claude Code and Codex command-line apps (the CLI) on your own monthly plan, not the API, so there are no API keys and no per-token API bill. There is no 3Edit Agent charge when you build with them. Works on every 3Edit plan, including the 7-day free trial. Media features such as images, video and voice use their own credits. See how 3Edit works with Claude Code and with Codex.
Your code. Your accounts.
Projects are standard Next.js. GitHub connect pushes every saved version to your own GitHub repository, and a developer can open the project in VS Code or any editor and continue. Publish to your own Vercel or to 3Edit hosting, or host it anywhere that supports Next.js. Secret keys are left out of downloads for safety and are added again wherever it is hosted.
3Edit hosting (3Edit Cloud) and custom domains are included in plans.
Optional AI on your own computer.
3Edit Node runs a private AI model on your own graphics card. 3Edit Node is optional and has no per-prompt fees. Everything works without it.
Start from a full backend.
Starter kits give you a complete website with the backend already built. The ecommerce starter kit is a complete full-stack store: a store admin area; customer accounts with sign-up and login; checkout with payments, with your own Stripe connected; orders and refunds, with emails to customers; and product importing from supplier sites with AI-written descriptions and SEO. With Print on demand, Printful prints and ships every order.

Creative apps, on every plan.
Every plan, the free trial too, includes the creative apps: Studio, Podcast, UGC / Ad, Design, Motion, Voice & Music, Image, Cinema, Upscaler, Presenter and Print on demand. The media you make with them uses your AI credits.

Bolt alternative questions
3Edit is an alternative to Bolt: a desktop app for Mac and Windows that builds websites, web apps and MVPs by chatting, with the 3Edit Agent or your own Claude Code or Codex plan, in standard Next.js code you own. Which one fits depends on how you like to work, and this page sets out both.
Bolt’s help centre says you choose the agent and Bolt handles model selection behind the scenes. In 3Edit you can build with your own plan: Claude Code and Codex run as the official tools on your own paid Claude plan or your ChatGPT plan, signed in with your own account, so there are no API keys to add and no API bills. There is no 3Edit Agent charge when you build with them. Works on every 3Edit plan, including the 7-day free trial. Media features such as images, video and voice use their own credits.
3Edit plans start at £7.99 a month, with a 7-day free trial and no card needed, and 3Edit hosting and custom domains are included. On Bolt’s own website, Pro is $25 a month, or $18 a month billed yearly, and it also has a free plan. Prices were checked on 26 October 2026. See every 3Edit plan on the pricing page.

Yes. Connect your own Supabase for logins, data and access rules, and GitHub connect pushes every saved version to your own GitHub repository. Publish to your own Vercel or to 3Edit hosting, or host it anywhere that supports Next.js.
